Imagine a condition that makes a person irritable, depressed, and self-centered, and also increases their risk of dying early by over 25%. Imagine that in industrialized countries, over 30% of folks are afflicted with this condition. Your income doesn’t protect you. Nor does your education, your sex, or your ethnicity. Worse yet, the condition is considered to be contagious, damages heart muscle, causes premature death and can affect any ordinary person walking down the street. Turns out, there is a fascinating link between love, family, social connectedness and relationships, and a longer lifespan. This presentation by Ben will give a host of practical love tips to include in one’s life for a longer lifespan and better health. After all, owning an amazing body and a sharp mind can all be for naught if loneliness, sadness, inflammation, high blood pressure and accelerated aging are all occurring due to a lack of friendships, social relationships, community, charity and love – and in this presentation, Ben will teach exactly why to and how to include these important components into a body, mind and spirit routine.

Sarcopenia and osteoporosis are increasingly prevalent conditions which can lead to significant healthcare costs and disability. Osteoporosis is estimated to affect 200 million women worldwide, while sarcopenia occurs in over 20% of persons aged 65 to 70 years and over 50% for those older than 80 years. The increase in the aging population and chronic disease rates serve as a precursor to muscle and bone loss, increasing risk of frailty. This loss of tissue integrity is not relegated to the elderly, as a progressive loss of muscle mass occurs from approximately 40 years of age, and reduction in bone density can also occur at middle age. Ben Greenfield, exercise physiologist, biomechanics specialist, and competitive endurance athlete, will shed light on a host of novel strategies for preserving function during this captivating session. Ben will share his unique perspective from experiential practice, informed by the scientific literature, to provide attendees with real-world interventions that include novel nutritional compounds and unique physical practices.

Suppose you want to live as long as possible. Suppose you also want to look as good as possible doing it. Suppose you want to maximize your hormone balance, your libido, your fertility, your strength, your power and your cardiovascular capacity. Suppose you want to step back, investigate every shred of exercise science research, and inject only the most highly effective and proven strategies into your life – even if it’s not for the primary sake of preparing for masochistic sufferfests like triathlons, marathons, obstacle races or other feats of physical endurance – but rather simply because you want to maximize longevity and look good naked and maximize aesthetics. Whether it’s total food intake, exercise, sunlight, protein, or work habits, we often think we need to do way much more than we actually need to do to get the results we want. But why crank out those extra reps or put in those extra few hours if you don’t actually need to? After all, failing to heed the minimum effective dose can often cost you money, time, and mental real estate. Sure: if you want to do an Ironman triathlon or a multi-hour obstacle race or be competitive at the Crossfit games you certainly need to put in some extra hours and do some more athletic, sport-specific training, but all that extra volume isn’t necessarily good for you, and it certainly isn’t necessary for being as fit as humanly possible while simultaneously maximizing your lifespan. So what would an exercise program look like if you do just want to look good naked and live longer? What would things look like if you decided that being the first person to the finish line of a triathlon wasn’t as important to you as looking and feeling like a million bucks for as long as possible? Ben Greenfield, the head coach at Kion and America’s top personal trainer will walk participants through every step necessary to understand and begin their own “done-for-you” program to look good naked and live a long time.
As a man who spends much of my life immersed as a leader in the modern health movement, I often survey the landscape of supplements, biohacks, transhumanists, modern wellness technologies and cutting-edge medicine and wonder: would our ancestors had laughed at us? When it comes to living a long and healthy life, would their ancestral wisdom beat our modern science, hands down? After all, despite our modern infatuation with longevity and optimized bodies, we are not strikingly healthier or longer-living than those of the previous two generations. Sure, reductions in infant and child mortality have been dramatic over the 20th and 21st centuries, but our adult and senior populations are still sick, riddled with chronic disease, battling obesity and frustrated with modern medicine. In this talk, I’ll tackle my curiosity over whether our pursuit of idealized health ought to return us to time-honored traditions, compare and contrast ancestral wisdom vs. modern science, and ponder what could happen to worldwide wellness if we returned to our roots.

The word on how to lose weight has continued to be summarized into two parts; diet and exercise. While these two variables play a role, there is much more happening within our bodies to consider when trying to lose weight. In this session, Ben will talk about the reasons you’re not losing weight and how to change your daily habits of activity, calorie consumption and sleep. He’ll discuss how food allergies and intolerances, hormone sensitivities, chemicals and other body systems could be stopping you from losing weight and what to do about it.

The world of fitness junkies, exercise enthusiasts, biohackers and healthy living zealots, tends to be attached to the point of unhealthy addiction. Attached to perfectly comprised meals, pantry and kitchen. Attached to a daily exercise session, so much that we can feel guilty, unhappy or even mildly depressed if we must take a walk in the sunshine because of a tweaked shoulder that makes us miss the gym. Attached to the wearable that magically tells us whether we are rested and ready for the day or whether we had a bad night of sleep, no matter how we actually feel. But can we release those attachments, or are all these attachments in life weighing us down, keeping us chained and distracting us from being fully satisfied with the immense beauty of simplicity? Or are you able to view them as simply pleasures, comforts and blessings from God that you’ve perhaps grown to become attached to? In this speech, you’ll discover how to release attachments and unleash the freedom and happiness that pours into your life when you do so.
To be fully grateful, fully aware, fully impactful, fully purposeful, fully excellent, and fully living to our greatest capacity, we must also be present each day, present each hour, present each minute, present each second, present each microsecond, and perhaps most importantly: present each breath. In an age of constant distraction, and doing, doing, doing as though we are human doings instead of human beings, most people’s presence is constantly non-existent or shattered. In this presentation, Ben will teach you what it means to be truly present, and how to ensure presence pours into your life all day long.
There are five regrets most often uttered by those on their deathbed. In this presentation, Ben will share them all, but focus most upon this regret: “I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.” He will teach you how to renew forsaken friendships, repair broken relationships, release regret and shame, and give practical tips on how to create new, meaningful friendships and relationships that will last a lifetime.
Digital interactions make it incredibly easy to treat people like computers—simply a series of 0s and 1s that we say random things to in order to make other things happen. Worse yet, once these kinds of impersonal digital interactions become a habit in one’s life, real face-to-face interactions seem to transform into a similar scenario. In these scenarios, no longer are real, flesh-and-blood people, actual people. No longer are they precious, unique spirits and souls who you may live with for eternity and beyond. No longer are they understandably flawed in a creative and magically imperfect way, but they are instead a walking flesh-and-blood computer with a chip that sometimes malfunctions and doesn’t do or say what you had desired or anticipated, easily treated as a commodity rather than as a fellow human being. There’s actually a name for this increasingly common phenomenon: transactional relationships. In this presentation, Ben will teach you how to form the opposite of transactional relationships and how to make every interaction you have with your fellow humans more special, loving and meaningful.
Many people now say that we ought to “make every moment count” with our kids, because 99% of the time parents spend with their children occurs before those children are eighteen years old, after which those precious offspring are theoretically out of the house, out and about living their own adventures, starting their own families, and largely inaccessible for the rest of a parent’s lifetime to be available to spend quality time with that parent. But is this true? Or is this a myth? In this presentation, Ben will answer those questions, and teach you how to connect with your children and build true and lasting tradition and legacy in your family that lasts for generations to come.

Old American TV programs from the 40s, 50s, and 60s, such as “Father Knows Best” or “Leave It to Beaver,” both of which—despite their often unrealistic portrayal of the perfect, idealized, nuclear family—depict relatively respectable father figures who lead their families in a strong, responsible and respectable manner. Next came the 70s, where fathers began to be portrayed much like the loudmouthed, uneducated bigot Archie Bunker of “All in the Family.” Then over the years leading up to our current era, Hollywood’s portrayal of a father devolved into the Homer Simpson, the Peter Griffin, and the Phil Dunphy—buffoonish and irresponsible fathers who are largely clowns, pushovers, and weaklings. Unfortunately, the modern household father has fared no better than the Hollywood father. Not only are fathers more inspired by these type of television portrayals to be likable, funny friends who call their kids “bud,” but they also tend to be present on the smartphone while relatively absent in their children’s’ lives, able to escape family life via workaholism enabled by a hyperconnected home-office scenario, loose-handed with discipline in fear that a social worker may come knocking on the door asking about 7am burpees in the driveway, and stricken with the angst of possibly being depicted as sexist, chauvinistic, dogmatic, or any other negative term used to describe a dad who dares to be a strong, hard, dependable, manly, male figure. In this presentation, Ben will teacher men, fathers, husbands and sons how to return to true, passionate, approachable, forgiving and compassionate masculinity that is able to provide for and protect family, community and society.
Each of us were born with a unique skillset of talents and character traits that, if tapped into, will allow us to make maximum impact in this world during our lifespan. Unfortunately, most people are disconnected from their purpose in life or do not have a simple, succinct purpose statement that gets them out of bed in the morning with a big smile on their face, prepared to tackle anything that life throws at them and prepared to make maximum contribution to humankind. In this presentation, Ben will teach why purpose is important, then lead participants on a practical journey to identify their own unique skillset and form their own massive and important purpose statement for their own life.
